By-Election Slated for Spring 2021

Mission - Mayor Pam Alexis has officially submitted her resignation. Mission will wait until early spring 2021 for its by-election to select a new mayor. District councilors will do monthly rotations in the mayor's seat until then.

After defeating BC Liberal Simon Gibson by a mere 744 votes, Alexis will take over as the MLA for the Abbotsford-Mission riding.

“It’s been a privilege to serve as mayor,” stated Alexis. “I am honoured to be able to continue to serve our community as your MLA. I look forward to advocating at the provincial level on behalf of both communities. Thank you for putting your trust in me.”

This month's rotating mayor is Councillor Mark Davies, December's mayor will be Councillor Cal Crawford. The remainder of the rotation schedule can be found at mission.ca

The upcoming by-election is currently being organized, while dates and deadlines will be provided as they become available

“The District of Mission is dedicated to delivering a safe and physically distanced by-election during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” announces a Nov. 12 municipal news release.
